Rare pride at work
In the past several years I have visited several sites documenting Rare Conservation's Pride program including the Río San Juan in Nicaragua; the Chihuahuan desert in Janos, Mexico; Samburu country near Wamba, Kenya; the western slope of the Andes in Ecuador; and one of the world's rarest birds on La Digue Island in the Seychelles. The work that results has been used and published in a wide range of applications from annual reports (2.6MB PDF) and presentations to published stories on Rare's programs and the places they work. For more information see below.
For a quick overview of the Rare's Pride program in general, click here for a high-res (4MB) PDF. See below for some of the materials generated from these trips for Rare and other editorial outlets.

Blogging
While in Eastern Africa I was able to post blog entries most days. Click here to read 8 archived entries and view some images from Kenya and the Seychelles.
slideshows
While on location in Mexico and east Africa, I produced and posted narrated slideshows for Rare's website that reflected on the immediate experience:

Reported stories
In addition to the in-house materials, I also work with third party media to publicize the work of these local grassroots activists and the innovative Rare Pride program:

as published in Orion magazine, Jan/Feb 2007.
In addition to the printed story, I also produced for Orion a web-exclusive piece on the region in general.
Audio recordings and video footage
While secondary to my primary responsabilities of photographing and writing about the locations I visit, I have also begun capturing audio samples and video footage. To hear a sample audio field recording of traditional Samburu songs please click here (approx. 1:40 & 1.6MB as an mp3).
Media Archives
Hundreds of images from these visits, including documentation of the projects as well as the social and environmental context of the area where they are working are online and available for immediate high-resolution download via my online archive. For more information or for custom searches, please contact me directly or Laurie Wilkison, VP Communications at Rare's offices in Arlington, VA.
